The foundations – what all of us and the world have in common

In this floor you will find the ideas, texts and customs upon which Jewish existence was built through history – foundations that have both a Particular-Jewish aspect and a universal aspect, relevant to all of mankind.
The particular elements include the Shabbat, communal holidays and the individual’s rites of passage. The universal elements include the bible’s influence on world’s culture. At the end of the exhibition you can celebrate Jewish creativity and renewal at the synagogue gallery, which is found at the end of the floor. The exhibition on this floor is built around themes and subjects, and doesn’t follow chronological order – you are welcome to make your own path.
