“Hear, O israel: The lord is our god, the lord is one” Deuteronomy 6:4 .The origin of the Jewish people has been lost in the mists of antiquity. Nevertheless, Jews are conscious of having a common origin – whose source is the Bible. According to the Bible, the beginnings of the Jewish people can be traced to the lives of their forefathers and foremothers and the bond they had with the Land of Israel. From there, the story continues with their descent to Egypt, the Israelites becoming a people, and their return to the Land of Israel. The Bible embodies the foundations of Jewish historical memory and Jewish cultural associations.
