Secular Jews have diverse worldviews and varying affiliations with traditions and cultural practices that originate in religion. They all regard human beings as individuals who have no obligation to prescribed religious commandments, but rather are free to adopt customs and practices of their own choosing.
Nonetheless, there have been, and still are, attempts to create secular Jewish congregations. Their members emphasize the Jewish-cultural element in their lives and their desire to tailor it to present-day values.
