Reform Judaism, which is also called Progressive Judaism, adheres to the fundamental belief that the Jewish people are bound to God in an eternal covenant. As they see it, halakha is a source of evolving traditions that can be amended and changed in accordance with considerations of ethics, time and place. Therefore, most Reform rabbis, congregations and individuals choose on their own how to apply matters of halakha to their conception of Judaism.
