Text: The Liberals

Text Panel

Modernity created different ways to address halakha. Liberal denominations sought to strike a balance between tradition and the historical and cultural changes that Jews underwent. Some liberal congregations stress the freedom individuals have when defining their position towards halakhic amendments. In other congregations, rabbis are the exclusive source of authority.
