Rivkah bat Meir Tiktiner (died 1605) was the first Jewish woman to publish an entire treatise dealing with religious and ethical issues. her book, Meneket Rivkah, was written in Yiddish and initially printed in Prague in 1609. The book was intended for married women and includes homilies dealing with family life and children’s upbringing. A Yiddish poem that she wrote for Simchat Torah was also published. her honorary titles of “rabbanit” and “darshanit” apparently testify to her having been a scholar and educator.
