The social and cultural surge was characterized by the emergence of new types of schools, youth movements, children’s games, periodicals for young people, publishing houses and books throughout the Jewish world. They borrowed their themes and techniques from their non-Jewish surroundings and shared a common goal: to bring the modern Jew into the world. These schools and institutions for children and youth were a reflection of a thriving heterogeneous Jewish culture across the globe.
