In liberal denominations, the prevailing view is that worship is a personal expression of faith and it should be permissible to alter the wording of a prayer when it distances worshippers from their intentions. Changes to worship include using the local language even if it is not hebrew, removing the partition between men and women, calling women up to read from the Torah and lead the service, incorporating musical instruments in the service, and even adapting the wording of a prayer to conform with an individual’s feelings and considerations of political correctness.
