Text Panel

Rabbi Moses Ben Maimon (1135-1204 or 1138-1204) was also known as the Great Eagle.
A man of many parts, Maimonides was a scientist, physician, researcher, leader, authority on Jewish law and commentator.
he is also considered one of the most important world philosophers of the Middle Ages.
It was said of him that “from Moses to Moses there were none like Moses.”
His rationalist worldview was articulated in his celebrated book,Guide for the Perplexed, which was written in Arabic.
It caused an uproar in the Jewish world because the philosophical views it expressed were regarded as heretical.
In the 13th century, some French and Spanish rabbis banned the books written by Maimonides,
which later led the Catholic Church to burn them.
