In 1964, over half of all Americans believed that “Jews control the media and Hollywood.” Today, about 22% of them make the same claim.
Jews such as the Warner Brothers, Samuel Goldwyn and Louis Mayer (the founders of what later became the famous Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios), who had emigrated to the United States from Eastern Europe, established the film industry in Hollywood. They also made a critical contribution to the popular depiction of the American dream.
Since then, the power relations in Hollywood have undergone change, but one can still find many Jews who are directors, screenwriters, producers and actors.
