Text: From Klezmers to Chassidic Rappers

Text Panel

“Klezmers were Jewish artists in Eastern Europe who composed and developed music which they played at Jewish weddings. The musical genre they created was in existence for centuries. In recent years, klezmer music has been experiencing a worldwide renaissance and klezmer festivals are now held across the globe.
Chassidic music consists of melodies and songs that were sung by Chassidim, who believed that music plays an important role in the worship of God. Contemporary Chassidic music is performed using modern instruments and is highly influenced by Western genres such as pop and rap.”
