The inhabitants of the ancient Kingdom of Judah were called Judeans.
They were identified according to their place of residence
(Kingdom of Judah) and not according to their religion or beliefs.
The name “Jews” was first mentioned in Biblical literature dating back to the Persian period (532-332 BCE),
attesting to a crucial change: originally associated with a geographical area and the inhabitants of a kingdom,
became a term that defined a cultural-religious identity.
