Many prominent Jewish playwriters, including Neil Simon, Harold Pinter, Eugene Ionesco and others, have addressed issues of Jewish identity and culture in their plays, whether directly or indirectly. There are numerous Jewish theaters around the world today that perform in their local language, but their repertoire deals with Jewish themes and renewed interpretations of classical works. Jewish theater festivals also devote considerable attention to questions of Jewish culture and identity.
