Most of us are familiar with the terms “Ashkenazi” and “Sephardi”.
It describes the Jewish traditions that developed in Western Europe and Spain. These terms began to be used during the Middle Ages and are still common today.
Ashkenazi and Sephardi synagogues differ in terms of architectural style, seating arrangements, interior design and liturgical objects. There are also significant differences in the content and melody of prayers.
