The Second Temple period was characterized by a flourishing of literature in hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. It dealt with a variety of subjects: historical events, ethics and moral guidance, commentaries on holy texts, and even apocalyptic descriptions of the end of days. Most of their authors have remained unknown.
