The film Halfon Hill Doesn’t Answer is considered the apex of Israeli comedy. The film’s director, Assi Dayan (1945-2014) co-wrote the script with Naftali Alter. It stars the HaGashash HaHiver trio in the roles of Sergio Constanza (Yisrael Poliakov), Victor Hasson (Shaike Levy) and Rafael “Gingi” Moked (Gavri Banai). The film is about the absurdities of IDF reserve duty in the days following the Yom Kippur War. The film’s full name parodies the patriotic film Hill 24 Doesn’t Answer, produced two decades earlier.
