Mel Brooks – American comedian, director, producer and actor known mainly for farce and parody. Born Melvyn Kaminsky in Brooklyn, New York. Began as a musician and standup comedian in night clubs. Began to appear on radio programs and wrote several comedies for TV. Directed and produced many movies including The Producers (1968) awarded the Oscar prize for best script, Blazing Saddles (1974), Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993).
