Amalie Beer – whose Hebrew name was Esther Jehuda Beer – hosted a literary salon in Berlin that was frequented by politicians, intellectuals, musicians, artists, and even the King of Prussia. Beer was the first Jewish woman to receive the Order of Queen Louise decoration, which was given to women in recognition of their contribution to Prussia
