and poet. Born Lewis Allan Reed in Brooklyn, New York. Considered one of the most original and important artists of underground and alternative rock music of the 20th century. In the late 1960s, Reed became famous as rhythm/lead
guitarist, vocalist and principal songwriter for the rock band The Velvet Underground. In 1970, he embarked on a solo career, in which he didn’t aim to create hitsand engaged complex social issues. Nevertheless, his career spanned five decades during which he released 20 award-winning albums and many hits, including Walk on the Wild Side. In 1990, he joined The Velvet Underground for a few concerts and continued creating his unique music until 2012.
