Jascha heifetz

American violinist, one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century. Born in Vilna in the Russian Empire (today in Lithuania), he was taught violin from his father at age 3 and subsequently studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He began performing around Europe at age 12. Heifetz immigrated to the U.S. with the start of the 1917 revolution, and performed at Carnegie Hall, earning the crowd’s admiration. Throughout his career, Heifetz performed all over the world. He made a successful tour in the Soviet Union in 1934. In 1939, he played the role of a successful musician in a movie. He recorded many successful works and taught at the University of Southern California.
