Must Know
The amulet was used in the Tahdid ceremony, traditionally celebrated by Moroccan Jews. The ceremony takes place every night, from the day of birth until the Brith: family members and friends gather in the room housing the mother and newborn baby, read verses from the Bible and Psalms, and sing piyyutim while brandishing a sword to ward off evil spirits from the room.
