Text Panel

This synagogue was founded in 1357 by Samuel ha-Levi Abulafia, treasurer to the king of Castile. Like many other synagogues, it was converted into a Catholic church after the Jewish expulsion from Spain in 1492. Over time, it was used for different purposes until it was declared a National Monument by the Spanish government in 1877, renovated and restored. In 1910, it became part of a museum of Spanish-Jewish art.
