Ruth Bader Ginsburg (b. 1933-2020) is an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. In 1972 she became the first woman to act as a Professor of Law at Columbia University. Since the 1970s she has been known as a leading lawyer in gender discrimination cases. In 1993 she was nominated as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, becoming only the second woman and the first Jew to hold that title. A poster on her office door, which holds the only mezuzah in the Supreme Court building, reads “Justice and only justice you shall follow.” Bader Ginsburg has said that “growing up Jewish, the concept of tikkun olam, repairing tears in the community and making things better for people less fortunate, was part of my heritage
