A Russian-born socialist who was forced to flee her homeland after being accused of subversion. She moved to Paris and from there to Italy, which became the base for her political activities. Kuliscioff edited a socialist newspaper and was a proponent of women’s suffrage and children’s rights. She was a founder of the Italian Socialist Party and later of the Unitarian Socialist Party, both of which fought against fascism in Italy.
