Jewish American fashion designer among the most influential of our time. Owner of the iconic DKNY fashion label. Born in Queens, New York, to a tailor father and a model mother. She launched her label Donna Karan, which became DKNY in the late 1980s, a less expensive clothing line characterized by simplicity, elegance and comfort. Her modern system of dressing seeks to offer women an alternative to traditional business wear while feeling comfortable and relaxed, combining elements from spirituality, Yoga, Zen and Kabbalah. Her brand produced casual clothing, underwear, accessories, colons, and even interior design items. Received many awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
