A young victim of the Holocaust born in Frankfurt, moved with her family to Amsterdam after the Nazis rose to power. The family was forced into hiding and spent two years in an annex in her father Otto’s office, assisted by four of his employees. Anne writing her diary immediately and continuously while hiding, describing her daily life in hiding, her family and companions, her thoughts and emotions. In August 1944 they were captured by the German police and deported to Auschwitz. Anne and Margot died from typhus. Otto survived and upon his return to Amsterdam was given the diary, that had been saved by his secretary Miep Gies.
