Handwritten Letter by Shabbetai Zevi

The letter was written a decade after Shabbetai Zevi (1626-1676) converted to Islam. he signed it “Messiah of the God of Israel and Judea, Shabbetai Mohammed Zevi,” and added the figure of a crooked serpent. In the letter, written during his forced exile, he asks his followers in the nearby Jewish community to send him a Machzor for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and instructs them to obey his messenger.
