Graduation Diploma of Mehdi Fararooy Kahen
from Alliance School
Hamedan, Iran, 1929
Print, manuscript, and seal stamps
Gift of Meir Mehrad Fararoi (Kohan)
In the 1930s, after serving in the Iranian army, Fararoi worked as a French translator and bookkeeper on the Trans-Iranian railway project. To hide his Jewish identity, he changed his surname to Fararoi – a name he found in a Persian history book. The school diploma still has the name Mehrad Cohen.
