The Jewish Welfare Federation worked to raise funds, acquire property and enhance the social and cultural welfare of the Jewish community in Detroit. Additionally, and from a broader perspective, the oragnisation wished to being about a cooperation between Jewish welfare and relief organisations around Detroit. The coordination of welfare and relief work in the city of Detroit is still actively done today by the Jewish Welfare Federation – which is still up and running.
Today it is called the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and actively organises activities, support the Detroit Jewish community and is in partnership with various philanthropy projects both in the United States and in Israel. Similar Jewish welfare federations and organisation exists in other cities across the United States.
