A colonel in the Polish army, born in Kretynga, Lithuania in 1764. Following the partition of Poland in 1794, together with Josef Aronowicz, he founded an all-Jewish cavalry regiment that joined the Polish revolutionary army. After the uprising was crushed, Joselewicz became part of a Polish unit that fought with Napoleon’s army to free Poland from the Russians. Joselewicz, who was awarded distinguished service medals for his role in the battles, was killed in action in 1809.
