Communal Life
The Jewish community provided its members with organizational foundations
that enabled them to live as an autonomous cultural and social unit.
Whereas in Ashkenaz most communities were organized in a similar manner, in Sepharad each community had its own organizational structure.
Among other things, it was influenced by the size of the community and the scope of the rights granted by the central government.
