Bob Dylan – American singer-songwriter, a major figure of folk-rock music in the 1960s and winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature. Born Robert Allen Zimmerman in Minnesota, he rose to fame with his critical, philosophical and cryptic songs which captured entire generations in the 1960s and 70s, influenced by the hippy and human rights movements. In a career spanning six decades, Dylan has gone through various turns, stylistic, spiritual and personal. He has released 39 albums, written several award-winning film scores and collaborated with many artists. He is considered a poet and rough troubadour and among the greats of American music of the 20th century.
